Design Your Own Dress with your own fabric

If you've always wanted your own Dream Dress but have a vision for your own fabric, now is your chance to make your dreams come true! Send me your chosen fabric and I'll make it into a Dream Dress. 

The Dream Dress is an oversized dress with a boat neckline which sits at the collarbones. With no fastenings to worry about, you can simply pull the Dream Dress over your head and go! It's the perfect everyday dress, smart enough to feel pulled together but casual and comfy enough for any occasion. The Dream Dress was originally designed for light fabrics with long sleeves to provide a full coverage look for all seasons, but it's such a versatile design that it works with almost any weight of fabric and any style of sleeve! 

• Available with the following sleeve options: sleeveless, shirt sleeve, short puff sleeve, long puff sleeve 
• Neckline and puff sleeve features visible binding, I will purchase matching binding to your fabric.  
• Mini length: 38ins from side of neck to hem 
• Midi length: 55ins from side of neck to hem 
• Pregnancy friendly: can be worn all through pregnancy 
• Breastfeeding: not breastfeeding friendly (a breastfeeding version of this dress is launching soon)
• In seam pockets in the skirt included as standard in all styles 

How to order

5. Your dress will be made in your fabric in 4 weeks. 

Please read the information below to make sure that you send enough fabric. 

Sizing 

• This is an OVERSIZED dress. It is semi-fitted through the bust but loose through the waist and hips.
•  All sleeve styles are designed to be loose fitting, however shirt style sleeves are semi fitted so if you have proportionally larger upper arms I recommend the puff sleeves either long or short. 
• Choose your size based on your full bust. If you have a proportionally smaller bust, you may find this means you're a smaller size than in some high street brands. 
• If the size guide recommends a different size to your usual high street size, please follow the size from the size guide NOT the high street as high street sizing is very variable. 
• If you are anxious about taking your measurements please get in touch and I'd be happy to help. I can even arrange for you to pop into my studio and take them for you. 
• If you are under 5 foot 3 or over 5 foot 11, or your measurements differ wildly from the size guide, you may wish to consider a custom size to get your perfect fit. However please note that this will still provide an oversized piece as this is an oversized style, it will just be oversized proportional to your measurements. 

Recommended fabrics 

• Cotton lawn, cotton poplin, cotton twill 
• Linen 
• Denim (please note thick heavy denim over 8oz is likely to be unsuitable for a dress 
• Vintage tablecloths, curtains, bedsheets etc (these must come pre-washed). 
• Heavy weight tencel and lyocell twills 

Fabrics not accepted: 

• Polyester fabrics of any kind - these will melt when pressed 
• Viscose fabrics - viscose shrinks when washed and frays too much to be a good long term choice 
• Stretch fabrics as these are not suitable for my designs 
  

How much fabric will I need? 

Amount of fabric required (assuming 140cm wide fabric - please get in touch if using a 112cm wide fabric as in larger sizes this may not be big enough for the pattern pieces): 

• Dream Dress mini sleeveless: 2.0m 
• Dream Dress mini shirt sleeve/ short puff sleeve: 2.5m 
• Dream Dress mini long sleeve: 3.0m 
• Dream Dress midi sleeveless: 3.0m 
• Dream Dress midi shirt sleeve/ short puff sleeve: 3.5m 
• Dream Dress midi long sleeve: 4m 

Extra fabric may be needed for designs with a directional print (i.e. bows which you wouldn't want going upside down). Please add 1m to be safe if you are sending a fabric with a directional print. 

Terms and conditions 

1. Turnaround time is approx 4 weeks from when your fabric is received by The Daydreamer London, not when you place your order. 
2. Please send all fabrics using tracked 24 or tracked 48 Royal Mail (this can be bought online and you can even arrange them to collect it from you). The Daydreamer London assumes no responsibility for fabrics lost on the way to the studio. 
3. If not enough fabric is provided, you will be contacted and if you are unable to provide enough fabric, it will be returned to you and a refund will be given minus the cost of return postage. 
4. Please prewash your fabric. If you do not prewash your fabric and it shrinks, no responsibility is taken by The Daydreamer London. 
5. This is a custom product and no refund will be given except for manufacturing faults. Ordering the wrong size and taking your measurements wrong are not manufacturing faults so please measure and check carefully.
