I know, I know, it’s such a gorgeous fabric and you all adore it, but just one 50m roll of this fabric sets me back £700 and I can’t order less than 50m at a time. So it really ties up my money and limits my options on what new fabrics I can go out searching for to make other gorgeous dream dresses. I’ve written and deleted about 100 posts in the I’ve written and deleted about 100 posts in the last couple of years about what it feels like to be a small business owner in the raging dumpster fire that is the world right now. The pressure to show up consistently and try and sell dresses when the world is like this is… tbh a total head fuck. People respond to positivity but I have real waves of not feeling positive about the world, and of not even knowing how to acknowledge the world and then just… pivot back to selling? But I also can’t stop, because this is actually my only job and the only way I make money in this world to do things like pay my bills and buy food is to sell dresses. And sometimes I feel overwhelmed by that and then I remember that Amazon doesn’t stop. Shein doesn’t stop. Temu doesn’t stop. And to me it comes down to this: do I think the world is a 0.000000001% better place with my business in it? And the answer to that is yes. I can be the ethical, sustainable, beautiful brand that I never had access to before I started it because there wasn’t anyone out there catering to plus sizes. I’m not clever enough to be a scientist, confident enough to be a politician, brave enough to be an activist, or anything important like that. I don’t know how to make a big change to the world. But while I’m alive, I’ll do my best to make tiny changes to earth in the best way I know how, for as long as I can. That’s all any of us can do, and this is the best way I know how, and so here I am. ❤️‍🩹
Wow that was a busy month! So much happened in Oct Wow that was a busy month! So much happened in October… a pop up, a wedding show, market prep, lots of online orders, a photoshoot, making 2 bespoke wedding dresses, and lots and lots of prep for Christmas party season! Whilst always carving out time for cat cuddles of course. I’m so grateful that this is what I get to do with my life and I’m so excited to reveal some of the projects I’m working on soon!

My vests weren’t an overnight success when I did My vests weren’t an overnight success when I did my first launch, but now 4 years later they’re one of my most tried and true products. I’ve tweaked them based on your feedback to include optional front ties, made them a fraction more cropped, and now I’m confident they’re the most perfect vests out there.
