Returns & Exchanges

Refunds are one of the biggest costs to businesses, especially small ethical businesses. Fast fashion brands consider the cost of returns a tax write off, and throw away their returned products into landfill with no care for the environment. This is the antithesis of everything I stand for in business.

I want you to love, wear and cherish your pieces from The Daydreamer, and I do everything I can to ensure that you will. I have an accurate size guide available for each individual product in inches and centimetres. I also have a measuring guide to help you measure yourself.

If you are unable to measure yourself, you can book an appointment to be measured at my studio!

If you have any doubt about the fit and sizing of an item, please get in touch with me via email or Instagram DM to discuss it. You can also include your measurements in the box at checkout when you buy an item, and I will check them against the measurements of the pattern pieces to check that they will fit, and if they won’t, I will offer you a different size or a refund or store credit before I make the item.

I do everything I can to ensure that you won’t need to make a return. However, in the exceptional circumstances that you do, below is my returns policy.

Returning a product you bought at a market or pop up

If you bought an item directly from me at a market or pop up shop, returns are not permitted, unless they are faulty. All products with known faults will be marked “sold as seen” with the faults highlighted on them so that you are aware of them. e.g. “sold as seen – small stain on cuff”, and sold as seen products are also non-returnable. Returns will only be accepted for products where a fault is discovered after purchase. There is always an opportunity to try on the products at markets and pop ups so please make use of this to ensure your products fit you.

Returning a standard sized item you bought online.

If you would like to return an item you bought online, please get in touch with me within 14 days of receiving your order, by email or Instagram DM to discuss the reason for your return. Please do not send it back to me without discussing it with me first to avoid any confusion or loss! No returns will be accepted after 14 days have passed.

If you have ordered a standard size piece and it doesn’t fit, I will offer an exchange for another size. Please note if you ordered a made to order piece and wish to exchange for another size, the exchange may take up to 3 weeks as I may need to make a new one from scratch. If no other size is available because that style is sold out or I do not offer a size that will fit you, I offer returns.

Please send all returns via Royal Mail Special Delivery to avoid any lost parcels. Special Delivery is the only service where Royal Mail will compensate you for the full value of the parcel; don’t send it Tracked24 or First Class recorded as these do not come with full compensation. Special Delivery is only £2.10 more than first class recorded, it’s worth it for the piece of mind!

You must return items in a saleable condition with tags and labels still attached. If the item is not in a saleable condition, a return will not be accepted. If an item is overly crumpled/scrunched up but it is possible to return it to a saleable condition, a restocking fee may be charged to cover the time and expense of returning the item to a saleable condition. This will be deducted from your refund.

Custom orders

If you have ordered a custom made to order piece or customised a ready to ship piece, no return or exchange is possible unless the product is faulty. This includes customising the length of a skirt. All custom products are fully QC checked and photographed before leaving the studio to ensure they are free from faults, so any claim the product is faulty will be compared to the QC checklist and photographs. If products are faulty, in the first instance a repair will be offered for free instead of a return. If the product is unable to be repaired, a return will be offered.

If you in any doubt about the right size to order for a custom product, please get in touch and I will be happy to help. I have a measuring guide to help you measure yourself, and I also offer a measuring service where you can come and be measured in my studio. If you would like, you can book a fitting and I will make a toile (practice version) of a garment and fit it to you at a session in my studio. Then I will make the final garment to the fitted toile so that you can be 100% sure of an accurate fit. You can purchase a fitting here.

If you have any questions at any time, please get in touch and I will be happy to help.
