I was BLOWN away by how many people requested these as a custom option last time so I’ve ended up making it a standalone dress!

It’s such a great layering piece but will also be perfect in hotter weather just with trainers and a denim jacket.

I’m literally buzzing to do a styling video!

It’s easy to feel super powerless as an individu

It’s easy to feel super powerless as an individual, because we can’t change laws or make governments do the right thing.

But every time one person chooses to shop small instead of doing a fast fashion haul, it makes a positive difference. And if every one of the 70 million people who live in the UK swapped to one more ethical purchase a year then think what a difference that would be!

I don’t know if I’m about to confess to something totally abnormal but I don’t think about anything when I’m cutting out orders! I don’t listen to music or podcasts or anything… I’m just like a little blank NPC snipping away at the fabric!

Anyway, this month’s drop of limited edition denim dream dresses are all cut out and with my seamstress to be sewn into beautiful dresses 🤎

Such a big question but here’s a 3 minute answer!

The biggest thing for me was intuitive eating. Learning to eat as much as my body actually needed at meals which was more than I let myself eat before meant that I wasn’t hungry basically all the time, which meant food and hunger took up a much smaller portion of my brain and energy so I was able to focus on them less. It made eating so much more relaxed and enjoyable and much less of a fight.

Listening to podcasts like the amazing @maintenancephase also helped because it meant I learned the actual truth about weight and science rather than the fearmongering, which has made me a lot more confident about existing in a larger body and advocating for myself in health situations. It’s also really educated me on the ableist way that “health” (ie thinness) is thrown in the face of fat people without any actual care for health.

Diet culture is a huge toxic culture and there’s no magic bullet to escaping it; but honestly just wanting to try is the most important thing because it means your mind is open to another way of thinking which is the start of every journey of growth!

Down to my very last few quilted vests!! These have been such a smash hit and were SO popular at the last @saladdaysmarketlondon that I sold out of almost all my stock.

I’ve only got the following left…

Everyone who touched one on Saturday remarked on how soft and cosy they are because the fabric is 100% cotton and the padding is cotton too, unlike the cheap stiff polyester padding you get in bland high street versions.

They’re also 100% machine washable too just in case of any coffee based incidents 😵‍💫

So if you like to be cosy and look cute too, make sure you snap yours up before I run out of fabric as there will be no restock of these!!

I haven’t really seen people talking about the connection between these two toxic things, but for me a massive part of getting out of fast fashion was getting out of diet culture.

Leaving diet culture meant I finally accepted my body was just going to be this size and I finally felt able to invest in pieces for the long term without this thought at the back of my mind that I shouldn’t bother because I might change size.

Leaving these toxic influences has been incredibly healing for me and I don’t think I could have ever escaped one without the other.

Washing the denim dream dresses! I had a couple of people ask me if the colours would run and I confidently said no because I always use high quality fabrics, but I thought what better way to prove that than by showing you! So here they are washed and still looking great!

My top laundry tips to keep your clothes looking great:
✅ Wash at 30C
✅ Use a gentle detergent
❌ Never tumble dry
❌ Don’t wash too often, aim for at least 2-3 wears between washes (hanging clothes out to air them in between wears)
✅ Hang dresses to dry to reduce the need to iron

Remember, loved clothes last! 🥰

Here’s my deep dive into how to learn to love oversized style!

I know when I was younger I personally felt I HAD to wear fitted and waist defining pieces because it was what everyone had told me was my best feature and I felt I owed it to myself to show it off.

But as I deconstructed from diet culture and fast fashion I realised that that’s not what personal style is about. Personal style is about having fun and enjoying your clothes, not rigidly following rules and presenting one shape to the world.

So now I throw out the rules and freely wear any shape I want, whether that’s a waist defining shirred dress or a big oversized cosy tent of a dress, because I know my worth in the world isn’t defined by how small I can look.

Oversized girlies of the world unite!

If you want to wear tight fitting clothes that define your waist, knock yourself out, there’s nothing wrong with that! However as a designer I don’t believe that this needs to be the function of every piece of clothing. Oversized pieces can be chic and elegant and just as beautiful to wear!

And while I hate the word flattering with a passion, a dress like this can actually be very flattering, because the raised waistline and long skirt follow the rule of thirds that makes photos and pieces look pleasing to the eye.

But even if it didn’t, that’s okay because there are so many more interesting things we can do and say with our wardrobes than focus on what’s currently considered flattering (because remember that changes every decade with beauty trends anyway!) and instead focus on pieces which bring us joy.

I cannot believe we’re only 2 weeks away from my final market 😭 I am so emotional and sad that this is my last @saladdaysmarketlondon for the foreseeable future (who knows about autumn 2026… we’ll see!). These markets are always my favourite days of the year because it is such a joy to be able to meet all you gorgeous folks IRL and the vibes are always so so good. But sometimes you have to let good things go so that baby things can come along 🤰🏻

But I want to go out on a major high which means… MASSIVE studio clear out, HUGE discounts of up to 70%, ONE OFF pieces that have never been on my website and generally the most amazing offer ever!!

This will be a strictly IRL only event: the pieces at the market won’t be on the website so make sure you come down on Saturday 1st February to say goodbye with a bang!!!

Big changes are coming!! I’ve agonised for so long over how to manage my business any my baby, and after lots of careful thought I’ve decided that the right choice for me personally is to take a break from the business to give me the opportunity to spend time with my son.

Because of the nature of my business, where I process all my orders myself, including cutting them out and packaging them even when I send them to my seamstress for the actual sewing, and because I don’t have a studio space where I can take on help with this, it’s just completely impractical to try and do both while I don’t have childcare. I know this is a balance a lot of small business owners hugely struggle with, but with a handmade to order product where I don’t keep any stock it’s just even more complicated.

Therefore, after mid April I will be closed for at least 6 months!! So please please if you were planning to order something for the summer season, make sure you order before I go on hiatus because I’ll feel even guiltier about going away if I get lots of angry DMs about people not being able to order.

Before that, there will be two limited edition drops that I’m literally buzzing to share with you, more on those very soon!

Another thing to note is that after doing my fave @saladdaysmarketlondon in 3 weeks’ time on Saturday 1st February I will be doing NO MARKETS for at least a year! So if you want to see things in person and grab a bargain make sure to come down to Salad Days because I am going to be clearing my studio of everything before my break!

Thank you in advance for your support at what is honestly a very vulnerable time as a small business owner 🩵 my business is really my first precious baby and I have given so much of my energy, weekends, emotional strength, sleepless nights, tears, and anxiety to it over the last four years, and I will admit I’m scared that this step might mean my business suffers hugely, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s the right decision for me, and that I’m not just really hopeful that you’ll all stick around for the gorgeous new things I’ll have to share with you when I come back once I have some childcare 🥰
