We’re definitely coming into my favourite time of year for fashion… not too hot, not too cold, perfect for serving lewks ✨ Of course this year my wardrobe is looking a little different to usual and I’m not wearing most of my clothes. And that’s okay! I’m trying to embrace the capsule wardrobe season and enjoy the challenge of dressing in a different way. I think it’s making me more creative! I also love that as most of my own designs are oversized or stretchy, I’m able to wear them even at 9 months (!!!) pregnant. That feels like the epitome of slow and sustainable fashion to me and I’m so glad it’s worked out that way. And if you’re seeing this and feeling gutted you missed out on a cow print dress, don’t worry, I will bring that fabric back in autumn when I return from maternity leave 🤠

It just feels like we’re being pushed AI SO hard by meta and the other tech companies and I want to question why and whether we should just embrace it. It doesn’t have to be the future if we don’t want it to be. I personally don’t believe AI can make art or should be used in a creative setting because it can’t think for itself, it only steals and reflects back. I don’t want to support that as a method of creation. You may feel differently and that’s okay, but I hope I made a few people think a bit more deeply about who is pushing AI and why.

It’s been my biggest shop opening and biggest launch for over a year and I am so so grateful to everyone who placed their trust in me and spent their hard earned pennies on one of my pieces. I’m always incredibly grateful when people choose my brand to shop with, and especially now. I really wasn’t sure what announcing my pregnancy would mean for my business (especially as I lost 200 followers in the first 24 hours afterwards which shook me a bit). Taking a maternity leave as a solopreneur feels risky and I don’t know many people who’ve done it, but seeing all your orders this week gives me confidence that this business I’ve spent 4.5 years building will still be here when I get back in the summer 💙 As for now, the website will look a little different to usual as all the made to order products have been removed. You can still shop ready to ship up until the 21st of April, and there will be one final ready to ship drop at the end of the month (VERY limited numbers). Winter outfits 🩵 My no.1 style philosophy is t Winter outfits 🩵 My no.1 style philosophy is to buy a few things you love and wear them over and over in loads of different ways. I’m actually really enjoying the styling challenge of being pregnant and only being able to wear a small proportion of my wardrobe because it’s basically forcing me to do a capsule wardrobe challenge. I’ve realised even more that if I love the options I have, I really don’t need that many of them! In fact, apart from 1 pair of maternity jeans, all of these pieces are from my regular wardrobe and will be able to be worn after pregnancy too! It’s such a world away from the fast fashion mindset I had in my 20s where I wanted new things all the time but I never loved anything I had because I always placed value on the quantity of what I was buying and not the quality. Now I’m focused on quality: do I love it? Will it be useful in my wardrobe? Does it help me make more different kinds of outfits? Asking myself these questions helps me pick pieces I know I’m going to love and actually wear. I don’t know if I’m about to confess to someth I don’t know if I’m about to confess to something totally abnormal but I don’t think about anything when I’m cutting out orders! I don’t listen to music or podcasts or anything… I’m just like a little blank NPC snipping away at the fabric! Such a big question but here’s a 3 minute answer Such a big question but here’s a 3 minute answer! The biggest thing for me was intuitive eating. Learning to eat as much as my body actually needed at meals which was more than I let myself eat before meant that I wasn’t hungry basically all the time, which meant food and hunger took up a much smaller portion of my brain and energy so I was able to focus on them less. It made eating so much more relaxed and enjoyable and much less of a fight. Listening to podcasts like the amazing @maintenancephase also helped because it meant I learned the actual truth about weight and science rather than the fearmongering, which has made me a lot more confident about existing in a larger body and advocating for myself in health situations. It’s also really educated me on the ableist way that “health” (ie thinness) is thrown in the face of fat people without any actual care for health. Diet culture is a huge toxic culture and there’s no magic bullet to escaping it; but honestly just wanting to try is the most important thing because it means your mind is open to another way of thinking which is the start of every journey of growth!
